How Background Removal Works
This tool runs the U²-Net salient-object model on ONNX Runtime Web, compiled to WebAssembly and running entirely in your browser. The model produces a soft alpha matte — not a hard cut — so semi-transparent detail like hair and fur is preserved. Pick a quality level, paint over any edges that need a touch-up with the Restore/Erase brush, choose a transparent or solid-colour background, then export a PNG or WebP (both keep transparency) or copy the result straight to your clipboard. The AI model downloads once (about 4 MB) and is then cached for offline use — your image is never sent anywhere.
