Convert a whole folder of images at once

Add your images, choose WebP, PNG or JPEG, and WebConverter converts them on your own computer. Chrome and Edge can write the results straight back to a folder.

Convert images to WebP

Or convert to: PNGJPEG

Three steps

  1. Open the converter for the format you want: WebP, PNG or JPEG.
  2. Drop all your images on the page, or click to select many files at once. In Chrome and Edge you can click Open Folder instead.
  3. Download the results, or in folder mode click Convert & Save and find them on disk.

Two ways to batch

ModeBrowsersWhat happens
Drop or select many filesEvery browserThe files are spread over 4 Web Workers, so four convert at the same time. Each result downloads as its own file.
Open FolderChrome and EdgeYou pick a folder and tick the files you want. The converted files are written to the same folder or to another one you choose. Files convert one after another. Subfolders are not included.

Safari and Firefox do not offer folder access, so they use the first mode.

What our tests show

We run these checks automatically against the converter pages.

Keep transparency

Converting to PNG or WebP keeps transparent backgrounds. We test it: a WebP and a PNG with transparent pixels come out of the converter with the transparency intact. JPEG cannot store transparency, so use PNG or WebP for logos and cut-outs.

Inputs and outputs

Inputs (14)BMP, DDS, GIF, HDR, ICO, JPEG, KTX, PGM, PIC, PNG, PPM, PSD, TGA, WebP
Outputs (9)PNG, JPEG, BMP, TGA, HDR, EXR, KTX2, DDS, WebP

JPEG has a quality slider. WebP has a quality slider and presets such as Lossless and Photo. PNG is lossless.

Mac and Windows

The steps are the same on both. There is nothing to install: open the page in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. If you convert images often, use WebConverter offline after one visit.

Free-plan limits on other converters

Many online converters cap free use. Here is what some of them say on their own pages.

ServiceFree-plan limit, quotedSource
CloudConvert“10 / day”cloudconvert.com/pricing
FreeConvert“up to 20 files per day”www.freeconvert.com/pricing
ezgif (upload mode)“Max file size: 200MB.”ezgif.com/webp-to-png

Quotes are copied from each service’s own pages. Limits change, so check the source before you rely on one. Checked on 2026-10-31.

Which format should you pick?

Pick WebP for smaller web images, PNG for sharp graphics with transparency, JPEG for photos that need to open everywhere. The guide JPG vs PNG vs WebP compares them, and how to reduce image file size shows what else shrinks a file.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on how many images I can convert?

The app sets no limit on the number of files and has no daily count. Your device’s memory is the practical limit. Browsers do restrict automatic multi-file downloads, so use folder mode in Chrome or Edge for large batches.

Does it keep transparent backgrounds?

Yes for PNG and WebP. JPEG cannot store transparency, so choose PNG or WebP when your images have a transparent background.

Can I set the quality?

Yes for JPEG and WebP. JPEG has a quality slider. WebP has a quality slider and presets. PNG is always lossless.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Every image is converted on your device. Our tests check that none of a file’s bytes appear in any network request.
