About the BMP Format
BMP (Windows Bitmap) is one of the oldest raster image formats, introduced by Microsoft for use in Windows. BMP files store pixel data with little or no compression, resulting in large file sizes but perfect quality retention. The format supports various colour depths from 1-bit monochrome to 32-bit with an alpha channel.
